“uh this line in terms of the series price has moved in favor of the Clippers now it flipped and the Mavs are the favorites to win the series where do you stand on Clippers Yeah so you know when November rolled around you know we like can we trust the Clippers this year December. I think this is the year it's different. January. Hey, the Clippers, they can really make a run, right? You get into the season. Now we're at April and it's like, here we are. It's same old Clippers, right? Kawhi's banged up. James Harden's banged up. You know, he's got a foot issue. and they sputtered towards the end of the year. And now they draw, you know, one of the hottest teams in the NBA, right? Luka and Kyrie seem to be working out. I think they won 12 of the last 15 games of the regular season, right? So they get a very, very difficult matchup in the first round where they're not going to get any type of leeway here. No opportunity for Kawhi to rest his knee. No opportunity for Harden to, you know, slip up. I mean, last year in the playoffs, Harden had two massive games in that series against the Celtics for the Sixers, who actually was the main reason they won those games. But then the other games, he disappeared. So a lot of inconsistency from James Harden in the playoffs last year. He can't afford to do that this year. Like, they're going to, especially if Kawhi's not 100%, they're going to need him. I don't like this at all for the Clippers. Like, this just feels like I saw this movie a thousand times. I know exactly how it ends. and I'm not going to be a contrarian and bet that this turns out differently. I think this is all Mavericks. I wanted to, when this first came out and we saw that these teams were going to be playing each other, my initial thought was Mavs all the way, right? Based on how they've been playing, they're going into the postseason with quite a bit of momentum, won 10 of their last 13 games. Things are great. And this is part of betting that I still have to get better at, right? is like blocking out all the noise, the bias from other people. Because everyone I've talked to, they're like, are you crazy? You like the Mavs in this one? The Clippers, like, what's all they played through that stretch of the season where they looked so good? Like, that's the team that we expect to show up. I'm not sure that that's the team that's going to be reality, right? Kawhi Leonard's not 100%. He's never 100% in the postseason. And what typically happens, the Clippers don't go very far. I do think James Harden, for as much flack as he gets for disappearing in the playoffs, which I fully agree that he does. Like, that's been his MO, doesn't perform all that well. But his role on this team of not necessarily being that even number one or number two, like, he's number three to Kawhi and PG, right? So maybe the stakes for him to perform at an extremely high level aren't there quite as much. And so the pressure comes off him a little bit. Russell Westbrook coming off the bench. He's been great since returning from injury. So I'm torn on this one. I think if anything, I do like the Mavs at plus one and a half for the series spread, but it's minus 250 over at BetMGM. So the way I might play some of these series is parlay them if your book allows. Like take a Dallas minus or plus one and a half series spread price and parlay it with another one that you like. And we'll talk through some of those other options there. I don't know. I mean, the way Kyrie and Luca are playing, you would think that they can beat this Clippers team. The defense has been there for the Mavs over this winning streak to end the season. They finished second in defensive rating, 18th in offensive rating over their last 13 games. a net rating of just under six. I do lean towards the Mavericks, but I'm scared to pull the trigger because of all the other noise that I've heard. So again, that's something I need to apparently get better at in terms of betting is just kind of blocking out all the other stuff. Well, it is. I mean, as a better, it is a little, it has the feeling of this is too easy, right? Almost like, hey, you know, the Mavs are the hot team. They finished the year strong. The Clippers always fall in this spot, and you almost want to, there's almost a little devil on your shoulder that says, like, oh, no, this is going to be the time it's different, and you're going to bet it, and you're going to look so smart when the Clippers win this series, right? But you can't bet like that. Like, you have to bet on the edges, the team's performance, how you see it. Like, you can just make wild contrarian bets if you want, but I don't see how, if you like the Clippers, that's fine do not bet them with the series price like bet them on a game-to-game basis because you don't know who's going to be there by game two you don't know who's going to be there in game three and you might not know until they're out on the court shooting warm-ups like that's the thing like these injuries with Kawhi just pop up and you last year it was out of nowhere nobody saw that coming so I don't think there's any way you could bet the Clippers like it with the series prices I would just only bet the Mavs in that situation. If you like them, bet them game by game. Play them on the money line here. You're getting a decent price. It's not like if the Clippers were a massive underdog and there was a ton of value in betting them at the series price, maybe you can get there if you want to get a little risky. But there's just no way. I just think the Mavs are the better team. And I think if you look at their peak, the way the Mavs are playing now,”

So if he's not able to just be on another level in this series, I don't think they're going to have the shooting and the scoring to really take out the Suns. Like you can put hands in their face. You can run them off the perimeter. They're just going to pull up and it's going to be nothing but net. So they're going to continue to score, put pressure on Minnesota. And man, I hate doing it, but I can't believe after the season they had this Timberwolves team is going to be one and done, but it seems like that's where they're headed. Like my money's going to be on Phoenix in this one.”

When things aren't going their way, when they're not getting foul calls, you know, they tend to lose their effort and intensity and kind of let the games get away from them. But in a one game setting against the Miami Heat, they don't have to worry about that. And again, they've been very successful with Embiid. I'm excited to see Nick Nurse's impact in the next series if they do advance against the Knicks, because they're going to have the work cut out for him in that series. They're not going to get through that series without a ton of adversity. If they are going to win that series, it's not going to be easy. And it's a team that really hasn't shown the mental fortitude in the past in these postseason games. So what type of impact does Nick Nurse have on that? That's what everyone wants to know. Is Nick Nurse be able to change what's been going on in Philadelphia for the past half a decade with Joel Embiid? And are they going to be able to get past, you know, ultimately the first round and then hopefully the second round if you're a Sixers fan? But that's going to be that series against the Knicks to me is going to be massive. But this game against the Heat, they're the better team. They've been the better team all year. When Embiid's on the floor, they're better. Embiid's going to be there. They should have no problem putting the Heat away. I know Spolster is an incredible coach, but, you know, at some point you need players. I don't think the Heat have them this year. How great is the storyline and narrative going to be? Let's just say that the Sixers and Knicks play, and the Sixers win that series. The Bucs and Pacers play, Bucs win that series, and we get Sixers-Bucs in the second round. We get Doc Rivers against his former team going up against Nick Nurse who is the I mean you ask 10 people who the better coach is between the of them I think a 10 out of 10 would probably say Nick nurse So that would be quite the interesting series. Of course, we have a long ways to go until we get there, but Mark, that would be a fun one. Would it not? Oh, I'd absolutely love it. Like I'm here for all the drama in the NBA, like every piece of drama that we can get in every series. Like it just makes the post season so much better. Like I want there to be controversy. I want there to be rivalries. Like, I'm upset that we're not getting just, you know, Steph and LeBron tonight. Like, that's what I want to see is like, you know, why do we have to wait to see if it plays out that way? Like, I would love to see News 2 in a play-in scenario. So I'm here for all that. And yeah, if we could get, you know, Nick Nurse against Doc Rivers, you know, returning to Philadelphia, I think that would be fantastic. It'd be great for the fans. I think it'd be great for the Sixers. I think I would like the Sixers in that matchup, depending on, you know, the health of Giannis. But we got a long way to go. We got to get by the heat. I think they can do that. I think they'll do it easy. I think they are the betting side there and just lay the points at the Sixers.
